Charming & inspiring
What a charming book! I learned so much about living with, learning from, and raising horses – extraordinary that Karin started off knowing nothing but that she had always wanted to live with horses, and through extraordinary patience, good humor, and power of will developed the farm she has today. Really inspiring.

Karin has a wonderful way of sharing her adventures! Because she has taken the time necessary to understand her horses, she has developed the mutual trust and respect it takes to become a champion. It has also given her the insight to describe life through the “horses” eye. After training with her for almost a year I can say she is the true example of Living by the Principles of the Horsemanship Creed. Thank you for being my mentor!!!!!

Beautiful book for ‘all ages’…
This book will inspire anyone who has had the courage to never give up on a dream. Karin’s passion for horses and her desire to live in the country to care for and train what has now become her ‘American Horse Family’ is the essence of this book. It is filled with little stories on each one of her horses as her family grew from Krizta who arrived in very poor condition and was nursed back to health by Karin’s shear determination, patience & love… followed by the others who each had their own story, personality & challenges. “My American Horse Family” is particularly intended for young readers but a beautiful book for ‘all ages’. It is filled with snippets of simple and practical wisdom applicable in our daily lives as she describes the joys and challenges faced with each new addition to her American Horse Family… a good read!

Great horse story for young horse lover
What this book about a real family horse farm conveys most vividly and poignantly is the author’s deep love and intimate knowledge of and respect for her horses, an essential message in itself for the young reader. The shifting point of view of the story is captivating and very telling of the intimacy of the farm life in the way it switches imperceptibly from Sebastian the horse talking about his life, his past, his trials, his training, his other horse pals on the farm, and his owner (the author), and the author telling about Sebastian and her other beautiful horses, how she acquired them and how she cares for them on the family farm.

I finely took the time to read it myself… It’s very knowledgeable about horses without being to overwhelming. It’s truly inspiring, I felt like I was in dreamland while reading this book !!! Can’t wait for the second book to come out !!!

Sebastian’s Adventures is a heartwarming story. Karin Matey is a neighbor and she has truly written a wonderful tale. I gave my copy to a friend who is also a horse woman and she is in the process of reading it to her tow young boys. They apparently like it too. So, it is a wonderful book that spans generations

Sebastian’s Adventures – diary of a Champion is an excellent book. As the nanny to a 5 year old boy and 3 year girl, it’s up to me to find a lot of our activities during the day. It’s also difficult to find something they both agree on. I was looking for an interesting book to read for storytime. That is when I found this classic. Not only is it fun AND educational, but it is a true story. For some reason the kids love that the most. They talk about one day visiting all of the horses from this book on the farm. I would reccommend this book to anyone who is interested in horses, or wants a good story!

Karin Matey Today I was reminded of what great teachers, examples and mentors I have had over the years~ (not just in raising my children), but my little four legged “child” as well. Thank you Karin Matey for allowing this chance to work on my riding skills and also to learn training methods from you that guarantee a life long commitment to the horse. You exemplify this in every way. Keanu the sweet Arabian that I was riding is proof of that. He was a young horse (then) and still learning himself. Lacey my 4 legged child will be 5 this year and I take it one lesson at a time. Happy Mother’s Day to all the “horsey” moms who know exactly what I’m talking about.
