Owning a horse and the tender loving care it needs is a challenging one. The simplest and advisable thing to do is be in contact with highly experienced people who have extensive knowledge and understanding of horse care. Experts recommend having your horse stable at a livery yard. With this method, you can easily be friends with horse care experts who are also owners that you can ask important questions when you need it.

Horse care fundamentals are still essential even on a yard-stable setup, such as routine horse care and living conditions (in and out).

  • Feeding Systemsare very essential in understanding the feeding basics since horses have fragile digestive organs.
  • Grooming is also important to have time to bond and check your horse. Grooming is not just having your horses’ pretty face, but this is also an indicator of good horse care.
  • A healthy appearanceis needed and to be able to identify the signs of any inherent weakness or abnormalities. If you feel something is not right with the animal, contact your veterinarian and have any medication treated if necessary.
  • Essential equipment, if you’re not sure what is needed, you may consult with your horse owner friends, and maintenance is a must.

Taking Care of the Horses:

Check if the grazing area is free of hazardous plants and free from threats. Do a routine check on the horses thrice a day to monitor their well-being. Stables should be secured and sanitized. Freshwater should always be available. Monitor vaccinations and other de-worming procedures if necessary. Equipment needs to be cleaned and in good working condition, always.

Once you have mastered the basics of horse care, there is always more to learn. As time goes by, you will become a horse expert yourself, and your turn to share the knowledge from your past experiences with others.

A horse’s spirit called out for help and in a mysterious way, I was the one that heard her weary spirit’s call. Today I am so thankful that I kept my promise to never give up on my Krizta, not just for her sake, but for my own. Krizta was the first member of my American Horse Family.
